How do you move Bitcoin onto BNB Chain to use in DeFi
You cannot move Bitcoin directly onto BNB Chain. Bitcoin and BNB Chain are separate, incompatible blockchains. To use Bitcoin in DeFi on BNB Chain, you must first swap your Bitcoin for a token that exists on BNB Chain - most commonly BNB itself, or a BEP-20 token like BTCB (Binance-Pegged Bitcoin).

You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.
The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. dogesound.club never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.
The reason is structural. Bitcoin uses a proof-of-work system and its own scripting language. BNB Chain uses proof-of-staked-authority and the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). The two chains cannot read each other's ledgers. There is no bridge that moves actual BTC across. Instead, Bitcoin is deposited, locked, or swapped, and an equivalent value token is minted on the other side.
Here is the practical process, step by step.
Step one: Get your Bitcoin into a tradeable form. You need Bitcoin in a wallet you control - not an exchange wallet - and you need access to a swap interface that supports both Bitcoin and BNB Chain assets. The swipe site routes Bitcoin through its exchanger and delivers BNB or a BEP-20 token to your wallet address.
Step two: Initiate the swap. You select Bitcoin as the asset you send, and BNB (or BTCB, or another BNB Chain token) as the asset you receive. The site generates a deposit address for your Bitcoin. You send your BTC to that address. The exchanger watches the Bitcoin blockchain for the transaction to gain enough confirmations.
Step three: Wait for Bitcoin confirmations. This is the slow part. Bitcoin blocks come roughly every ten minutes. Most exchangers require at least one confirmation; some require three or six. During this period, your swap is pending. You cannot cancel it. If you sent Bitcoin to the wrong address format, the swap will fail - that is covered on the sibling page "Why can a Bitcoin swap fail if you use the wrong address format."
Step four: Receive on BNB Chain. Once the Bitcoin transaction is confirmed, the exchanger releases the equivalent value in BNB (or your chosen token) to your BNB Chain wallet address. That transfer happens in seconds. BNB Chain blocks finalize in about one second. This is why a Bitcoin swap stays pending while a BNB Chain swap finishes almost instantly - a topic already detailed in "Why does a Bitcoin swap stay pending while a BNB Chain swap finishes in seconds."
Step five: Use the token in DeFi. You now hold a BNB Chain-native asset. You can supply it to a lending protocol, add it to a liquidity pool, or trade it on a decentralized exchange - all within BNB Chain's ecosystem. If you wanted BTCB specifically (a token pegged to Bitcoin's price), you would swap your BNB for BTCB on a DEX. The trust model differs: BTCB is issued by a centralized custodian, not by the Bitcoin network itself.
What about a direct Bitcoin-to-BNB swap without a centralized exchange? That question is answered in full on the sibling page "How do you swap BTC for BNB without a centralized exchange." The short version: you cannot do it peer-to-peer across chains. You always pass through an intermediary - either an exchange, a bridge, or a swap service.
Why go through this? DeFi on BNB Chain offers fast transactions and low fees compared to Ethereum, and a wide range of protocols. Bitcoin, by design, lacks smart contract functionality. Moving value onto BNB Chain lets you use that value in DeFi applications. The hub page "Swapping Bitcoin for other assets" explains the broader trade-offs involved in converting Bitcoin into tokens on other chains.
One more note: the swap deposit address the site gives you for your Bitcoin has an expiration time. If you send Bitcoin after that time, the swap fails and your BTC may be recoverable only through support. See "What happens when you send Bitcoin to a swap deposit address that expires" for details.
In summary: move Bitcoin to BNB Chain by swapping BTC for a BNB Chain token via a non-custodial swap service. The Bitcoin stays on Bitcoin; the BNB arrives on BNB Chain. The delay is caused by Bitcoin's block time, not by inefficiency. Once the swap completes, you can participate in BNB Chain DeFi as if you had always held BNB.
